Draft for review. This policy was prepared as part of a website design concept and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Please have legal counsel review and adjust it before publishing.
Who We Are
YFC Saskatoon | Youth Unlimited (“YFC Saskatoon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a registered Canadian charity based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We are committed to protecting the privacy of donors, volunteers, staff, program participants, families, and website visitors.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and safeguard it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in a manner consistent with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
Information We Collect
We collect only the personal information we need in order to carry out our ministry. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
Donors
- Name, email address, mailing address, and phone number
- Donation amount, frequency, and designated fund
- Information required to issue a charitable tax receipt
Online credit card donations are processed by CanadaHelps, a third-party donation platform. We never see or store your full credit card number. CanadaHelps handles payment processing and issues your tax receipt directly, under their own privacy policy.
Volunteers and Staff Applicants
- Contact details, application responses, and references
- Statement of faith and church affiliation
- Criminal record check results, where required for roles working with youth
Screening information is collected solely to protect the young people in our programs. It is seen only by the staff who need it to make a decision, and is retained no longer than necessary.
Program Participants and Families
- Participant name, age, and emergency contact information
- Relevant medical, allergy, or accessibility information
- Parent or guardian consent for participants under the age of 18
- Photo and media consent, where given
Website Visitors
- Email address, if you sign up for prayer or ministry updates
- Any information you choose to submit through a contact form
- Standard technical data such as browser type and pages visited
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Process donations and issue charitable tax receipts
- Send prayer requests, ministry updates, and newsletters you have asked to receive
- Review volunteer and staff applications and complete required screening
- Operate our programs safely and respond to emergencies
- Respond to questions, prayer requests, and other enquiries
- Meet our legal, accounting, and Canada Revenue Agency reporting obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
Children and Youth
Our ministry works directly with young people. Where a participant is under the age of 18, we seek consent from a parent or legal guardian before collecting their personal information, before publishing any photo or story that identifies them, and before their participation in our programs. A parent or guardian may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting our office.
Sharing Your Information
We share personal information only where necessary, and only with:
- Service providers who help us operate — such as CanadaHelps for donation processing and our email provider for newsletters — who may use the information only for that purpose
- Law enforcement or child protection authorities where we are legally required to report, including our duty to report a child in need of protection under Saskatchewan’s Child and Family Services Act
- Regulators such as the Canada Revenue Agency, where required for charitable reporting
Email and Your Right to Unsubscribe
We send ministry updates only to people who have asked to receive them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. You may also email us directly and we will remove you promptly.
Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website may use cookies and basic analytics to understand how visitors use the site so that we can improve it. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Our contact page embeds a Google Map. Google may collect data through that embed under its own privacy policy.
How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. Access to donor and participant records is limited to staff who need it for their work. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Donation records are retained to meet Canada Revenue Agency requirements. When information is no longer needed, we securely destroy or anonymize it.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request a correction if something is inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual limits
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep
- Raise a concern about how we have handled your information
We will respond to requests within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
