CARMEN PAHL
RE:create Director

Carmen was born in Calgary, AB and has moved a number of times until 2007 when Saskatchewan became her home. For the last 12 years Carmen has spent many years in missions including eight summers at Ranger Lake Bible Camp, a season at Camp Kadesh and two years with travelling with Venture Teams International.  It is during her time at VTI and Ranger Lake that she developed a passion for youth ministry and went on to graduate from Briercrest College with her Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry in 2014. Carmen started at Youth For Christ September 2nd, 2015.

Carmen’s passion’s include organizing and planning events (surprise Birthday parties are my favourite to plan!), travelling, music, photography, videography, Star Wars, and having (and making) a good cup of coffee.  It is her hope that the youth she encounters experience, joy, laughter and a sense of hope beyond their circumstances, and that they may come to know Christ’s love for them.

Carmen has had her hand in many programs at YFC throughout the years, she loves supporting her fellow co-workers in their dreams and passions!  She was able to help out at the Drop In program at YFC for many years and through that connection with students there and at camp that she was able to start up a Wednesday Night Girls Group.  This group, now known as Re:Create, has helped a number of students learn new skills, make great friends and helped them learn more about their relationship with God. It has even spurred many students who have been apart of the program to consider going into Youth Ministry or become volunteers or skill leaders for Re:Create as well.

Carmen has also been apart of the Connection events in Saskatoon, helped on California Breakaway and has helped lead a number of youth groups in the past. She spends numerous hours mentoring and discipling young girls and those of you that have hung out with Carmen have probably shamelessly listened to hours of loud music driving around Saskatoon running errands and having so much fun belting out really any form of music. Carmen also has a huge passion for leading and helping organize large events.  This last year she headed up a City Wide Worship night at Lakeview church and hosted a few other fundraisers, stage managed for Inspire and is hoping to continue her love for managing large events as they begin to open up again after Covid.

In 2020, Carmen began to dream and it was out of that dreaming that Re:Create was born. She is now the Re:Create director and has big dreams to expand this creative arts ministry into a full time art drop in centre. As she continues to serve at YFC she would love to get involved in coaching basketball at a local High school, help plan and organize more big events for youth in Saskatoon and develop the summer worker program at YFC in the summertime, all while continuing to work alongside students helping them grow in their unique gifts and knowledge and love of God.
