Dear Friends and Family,

This is Sarah Michel and I am writing this letter to let you know about an awesome opportunity I have been blessed with.  This September I applied and have been given the chance to join 12 other students ranging from grades 10 to 12 to go on a mission trip called “Project Serve” with Saskatoon Youth for Christ. This February we will be travelling to Belmopan, Belize for 12 days to work at The Kings Children’s Home orphanage!

You may recall reading a similar letter from my sister Nicole. She went a couple of years ago and helped build a basketball court and a house! After listening to her stories and experience I really wanted to go and be a part of this team. I am one of the youngest on the team and probably the smallest but I am looking forward it. While we are in Belize, we will be continuing construction at the orphanage by helping with the water tower project or with the home school construction. There are currently 65+ children living there and we are helping develop the land they live on.  We will also be spending lots of time playing, reading, singing and providing them as much fun and love as possible while we are there.

I am really excited (and nervous!) to be participating in this experience. This trip requires a lot of support from the community. I would like to ask you to be a part of this experience through prayer, encouragement and/or donations. I would really appreciate it if you would pray for me not to be scared and for our team to have a safe trip and that we can truly help these children.

Financially I am required to raise $2800.  This will cover the plane ride and the supplies we need for the project we will be doing. I need to fundraise $1400 by the middle of December. Any donation whether if it is $5 or $200 is appreciated.  All the donations I receive will go towards our mission, and help the Belize children to have a better life.

I will be putting the money from my house house-cleaning job, babysitting job, birthday and Christmas away for this trip. I am also collecting bottles and cans, if you have any to spare.  Also if you need some odd jobs done keep me in mind! Happy to rake leaves or clean to earn money for the trip.

You can donate in many ways. You can safely donate online through the YFC website by clicking on the Donate Now button below. Donating online reduces administration time and money, and you will receive an instant tax receipt (which my mom the accountant says is a good thing). If you prefer to write a cheque you can make it out to Youth for Christ and mail it to 1338 Ave B North Saskatoon, SK S7L1G5. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt at the end of the year. You can also just let me know if you want to donate and I will make sure it gets there for you. Just let YFC know if it is for Project Serve 2018
