We just wrapped up another fantastic year of YFCHL with our 2019 Playoffs. It is always so great to finish the season off with a gruelling marathon of playoff hockey were the games intensity doubles or triples. Every single game is played as if it were their last and the kids leave everything on the floor. It is also incredible to see the fruit that the year has produced. We came such a far way from the beginning of this year and we are so proud of how the young men and woman have grown and matured over the year.
It was a great feeling being able to hand over the Stanley Cup over to Tristen and his team as they had been in the finals three years in a row, coming so close to winning but falling short every year. This year was a different story as they were the regular season juggernaut and even though they had some rocky games in the playoffs, they showed grit and determination to finally bring home the championship!
The Junior league was also extremely exciting as The River City Lumberjacks won their first round in 7 games, winning each game in overtime. Then moving onto the finals, backed by Avery, their MVP goaltender, dethroned the first place team in the league to win the 2018-2019 Kelvin Cup!
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
