Driving Instructor Mitch
Even though this happened just before Christmas, I still wanted to share this with you. This young man’s name is Jasper. I’ve known Jasper for the past 5 years as he was on the first team that I coached at YFCHL. Jasper was just a little kid that only ever wore a t-shirt and board shorts regardless of the temperature.
At the beginning of this year, Jasper was bugging me to take him driving in my car so that he could practice, I could give him some tips and he could gain some confidence driving in the city. This was a cool experience as I got to spend some quality one on one time with Jasper as we just drove around the city. The one time we drove around for 3 hours! Even though it cost me gas money, I wouldn’t trade that time with him for anything in the world.
I took him out driving right before his test, then sat and waited with him until they called his name. I told him to not be discouraged if he didn’t get it on his first try. After he got back, he was grinning from ear to ear as he told me he did it!! I am so proud of Jasper and I am so happy I got to share this experience with him!
