In the Summertime!

IN THE SUMMERTIME
Programming continues for the summer with Drop-In on Tuesday nights and The Project at Carpenter’s Church on Wednesday Nights.  As it always seems to happen, attendance has been lower for the month of July and August.

Due to lower attendance, we have been able to get to know the students better.  With Drop-In, Leslie and I have more time to hang out with the students.  We have seen some develop their skills and it looks like we will have some future leaders in the group.  Carpenter’s Church have seen some of the newer students at Drop-In attending Sunday School.  It still is an adventure to provide a variety of meals.  We have been fortunate to have a local coffee shop (Starbucks) provide leftover pastries for our students and families.

At The Project, Leslie continues to do the meals and I have my Junior Boy’s Small Group.  We have had a variety of topics over the last few Wednesday nights.

With the assistance of 2 volunteers, Lawrence Stratton and Andre Arscott, my fellow coworker, Tyler Stein and myself took our smalls groups out to Timberjaxe for axe throwing and then to Costco for hot dogs and ice cream.  The boys loved it and we didn’t have any injuries to report!!  See the picture below of the group.

The Youth for Christ Hockey League has stopped for the summer.  A group of older students from the league went to Winnipeg for the Ball Hockey Youth for Christ Nationals with staffer Evan Peters and a volunteer, Clint Wahl.  They got to play a lot of hockey and see the sites of Winnipeg including touring the Bell MTS Place, the home of the Winnipeg Jets.  A highlight of the tour was being able to visit the Winnipeg Jets dressing room.  On top of that, our Saskatoon team won the tournament.  Two of my “boys” were part of the team.  See pictures below.

One of the major highlights in July is that the parents of 2 of our Drop-In/Project students were married on July 26th at Carpenter’s Church.  Leslie and I had a great time celebrating their special day.
Also, 22 students spent last week at Living Waters Bible Camp.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.  Leslie and I drove students up to and back from camp.
Our year end is August 31st so I am working on the financials with budgets being prepared for our next fiscal year.  Summer is also a time for staff to go to camps with students and take some holidays.

Prayer Requests
-Continue to pray for our students
.  With fall coming up, students will be trying to get into a routine especially those going into high school and those graduated from Grade 12.
-My support account is still in need of funds for the fall.  Please pray for funds so I can receive full pay.

Leslie and I want to continue to thank you for your generous support (prayer and financial).  We appreciate each one of you.
