WHY BELIZE?
In our opinion, the most effective way to live out short term missions, both for those going to serve and those being served, involves a long term relationship and partnership. Kristin Clark began a relationship with the people of Belize on her first short term trip back in 2001. Since then Kristin has lead 8 teams back to Belize as well as taken several personal trips. Her relationship with the local ministries there has deepened into a life long friendship. Belize provides opportunity for a wide range of ministry opportunities, and has proven to be both a very safe country to travel to, and an easy culture to adapt to because there is no language barrier. Kristin’s many trips down to Belize have allowed her to connect with many different programs, schools, and ministries. This allows for a variety of service opportunities and an instant and deep connection to the Belizean people for the team.
THE NATURE AND WORK OF OUR MINISTRY
Our main work project will involve construction at the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) base that is currently under construction in Belmopan. Our partnership with YWAM runs deep, and we are excited to team up with them to help construct this new base right in the heart of the capital city of Belize. Our team will work together to raise the funds to contribute to to the construction of the base, and once there we will help to build their youth drop in center. This YWAM base will be a place of ministry to the youth of Belize for years to come. It will be an honor to partner with them to help YWAM achieve this momentous goal.
We will also be working closely with the King’s Children’s Home, a local orphanage in Belmopan, Belize. YFC® has been partnering with the King’s Children’s Home for the last eight years. There are currently 60 children living in the home, and they are in desperate need of volunteers. Our team spend time loving these amazing kids, and helping out in their home in any way that we can. (for more information on the King’s Children’s Home, please visit www.kingschildrenshome.org
Other ministry opportunities may include sharing and serving in several local schools and kids clubs (leading music, drama, sharing testimonies, one-on-one tutoring, and helping in classrooms), and contributing in services in a local church, both with the children and adults.
